As most of you are aware Titli Cyclone had a devastating effect on most areas of Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. The tribal areas are one of the most severely affected, experiencing severe losses in terms of their crop, & infrastructure. Pained by the loss Srujanavani has immediately jumped into action and has extended its support. As part of the cyclone relief activity, Srujanavani has extended its help in the tribal hamlets through the supply of food. 200 households were supplied with food and other amenities like candles were distributed to tide over the crisis. Alongside, need-assessment was taken up by the action teams and it was decided to support the households through the supply of solar lamps to overcome the power crisis existing in the villages.
Accordingly, 200 solar lamps were distributed in 5 remote tribal hamlets to mitigate the power crisis. Srujanavani members with the support of local villagers have successfully undertook the solar lamp distribution activity. Reaching the target village by 1130 am we have been able to distribute the lamps in a systematic and organized manner. The households were even supplied with biscuits. Similarly, needful medicines like paracetamol, aspirin, etc. were given, so that the basic medicine might be of help in case of an emergency. By 2 pm we were able to conclude the activity.
Overall, the supplied solar lamps distributed may not have brought a huge difference to the deprived families but certainly, the activity has ushered in hope and belief among the households during the most needful times.
