As is the case every week session started with 'Vandemataram' followed by chanting of Sahanavavathu and guru bramha.
Keeping in view of the importance attached to June 5th, World Environmental Day, we have collectively discussed on the measures that help minimise the use of plastics. This year's theme "Beat the Plastic" was thoroughly discussed. In this context discussion on the initiatives taken by various countries have been deliberated. As part of the brainstorming, we divided ourselves into three groups to ascertain various measures that we can adopt in our daily life and contribute to minimise the use of plastics. While there have been many points that came through the discussion, the following points stand as takeaways and which shall be implemented as a To-Do List in our life.
1. Follow Triple R rule (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)
2. Ensuring optimal usage of electricity
3. Contributing to Conversation of water
4. Participation in Plantation / Afforestation drives
5. Preferring Walk, Cycling or Public transport over individual vehicles
6. Proper disposal of wastes etc.
With the above pointers to be followed, finally we called off our session with 'Sarvesham....'
